Week of CRAZY!

Last week was crazy! Not only did we have my fiancés kids, but our washer decided to stop draining, and the lawn mower gave out. Crazy!

I am not a homemaker. I work outside the home. So, things sometimes get put on the back burner. Like laundry. I had waited until the very last clean work cloths to start an "emergency load." The magical load would have what we needed to make it to the weekend. Where at that time I would tell myself I would do ALL the laundry. So the washer ran. When I opened the lid it was still full of water. So I ran it again this time only on the spin cycle. Full! I called in reinforcements. The man of the house, my knight in shining armor, who got super frustrated with it but got it to drain. Now what do we do? It’s a Tuesday at 8 pm.

Old faithful washer!

The next morning my fiancĂ© was on it. Found a new-ish washer in our price range. He sends me the picture...... Heaven! The washer of my dreams. Front loader, high efficiency, water and energy saving! I was in love.

New life saver

We head out Saturday to get the washer of dreams. Get it home, hook it up, run the first load, it’s amazing. I don't usually gush over an appliance but I could not be any happier. It does bigger loads with less water and it spins so fast it cut down on the dry time too. I REALLY almost have ALL the laundry done. That never happens. Oh and it does this---

Dimond in the rough!

I was out and about today getting some stuff done. Went to the farmers market, pick up new washer, ect. When I came across a new thrift store. I love thrift shopping. I find some really great stuff some time. Other times not crap. Today! Today was a good day. Today was so good I feel like I stole from the goodwill! I found a Nesco American harvest dehydrator for $7.99. That's right $7.99! Not only did I find the awesome dehydrator we found other awesome stuff. When I got the dehydrator home all of the paperwork was neatly tucked inside with the lid taped down. I decided to look it up to see how much it would cost to buy brand new. It's a 70 dollar dehydrator. Just goes to show you can find really great stuff at the thrift store if you look.

Hello!

Living in central Oklahoma in the spring can be an exciting adventure all on its own. It is called "tornado ally" for a reason.

I want to take you along with me threw some things I've been learning over the years and even new skills I want to try out. I have taught myself to crochet and  my mom taught me to sew. Many jobs in bakeries have given me the skill to bake. Youtube taught me to can my own fruits and vegetables. Last year I started foraging local herbs, fruits, and medicinal plants. The internet is a wonderful place to learn.

I know people used to learn these kinds of skills from there grandparents. For me that is not the case. I have a wonderful grandmother who supports  me in my mission to learn but she seems to be the first generation to miss out on this particular set of life skills.  So I have take to the internet, YouTube, blogs, community groups, correspondence courses, to find out what we have been missing.
